We study by means of density-matrix renormalization-group simulations the non-equilibrium spin dynamics of a one-dimensional (1D) system of repulsively interacting fermions. We focus on shorttimespin drag (STSD) covering the whole range from weak to strong coupling. In the former limit the characteristic time scale associated to STSD increases linearly with the strength of repulsion, while in the latter it is inversely proportional to it. Our predictions can be tested by using tunable ultracold few-fermion systems in 1D traps.
