The Whisper sounder and high frequency wave analyser provides, via the identification of the plasma frequency, reliable and precise measurement of the electron density. The Cluster spacecraft have explored the outer plasmasphere region during their fisrt year in mission in several local time sectors and at two different tetrahedron configuration and inter-spacecraft distances. We make use of the unique data set obtained: four densities measured simultaneously at close distances, to monitor the topology and evolution of plasmaspheric density structures in situ.
