Mirrors: Support Systems
Scientific paper
The Columbus Project plans to use two 8 meter diameter borosilicate
honeycomb mirrors in an 11.3 meter telescope. In order to design the
mirror structure and the support system, a series of finite element
models were constructed and a step by step optimization process was
carried out.
