We used our 3-species, 3-D, adaptive, MHD code to study the interaction of the solar wind with Mars, using a realistic magnetic field model, which is based on the MGS results. We studied the influence of the remnant, crustal magnetic field on the location and shape of the bowshock and ionopause. We also calculated the ion escape fluxes, for the different conditions considered and find them to be consistent with the measured values.
