We ask for 4 TOO observations of 50 ks each to observe 4 blazars, conditional to stringent and well defined triggering criteria based on 1) GeV brightening; or 2) TeV brightening; or 3) hard or soft X-ray brightening. At least two XMM- Newton observations will be activated on LAT detection of very high GeV fluxes. Simultaneous XMM-Newton and GLAST/LAT observations will guarantee the coverage of crucial energy ranges to determine the overall spectral energy distribution of blazars in flaring state. With the XMM-Newton observations we will investigate their X-ray spectra evolution over a timescale from minutes to hours. This will provide relevant information on the radiation mechanisms in extragalactic relativistic jets.
