It is suggested that the observed deformation of the plane of the interplanetary current sheet is caused by the pressure of solar wind fluxes. This hypothesis is confirmed by the observation that the boundary of the interplanetary magnetic field sector usually precedes the high-speed solar wind flux (the M-flux). Data relating to this hypothesis are reviewed.
