Effects of modifications of Einstein's field equations due to vacuum fluctuations of the gravitational field on some specific gravitational-field configurations are investigated. The geometry of spacetime is treated as a stochastic variable, and the vacuum corrections are examined in a quasi-Maxwellian framework. The additional terms in the modified Einstein equations are decomposed as a series in the electric and magnetic parts of the Weyl conformal tensor. The effects of vacuum corrections on a gravitational wave propagating in a Minkowski background are discussed, and an analogy with Maxwell's electrodynamics is used to interpret the terms induced by the vacuum corrections of the gravitational field. The propagation of perturbations in a Friedmann-type universe is analyzed in the framework of this modified version of general relativity. Effects of an inhomogeneous rotation-dependent current on the cosmological models are briefly considered.
