We set up the general relativistic equations of motion of a shell that
models the matter ejected in supernova explosions. The non-relativistic
Ostriker-Gunn equation is obtained properly. It is shown that in general
the equation of motion admits a first integral and the evolution of the
shell is reduced to a dynamical system of four equations.
