Huygens's principle is applied to the general case of plane waves incident on uniaxial crystals with plane surface and the corresponding laws of refraction in analytical form are derived. Optical aberrations are calculated and their effects on solar observations with high spatial resolution are discussed. Solutions for beam-splitters free of aberrations are proposed.
