INVENTORY is a searching, photometric, and classifying package which belongs to the ESO MIDAS image processing system. Originally, INVENTORY was designed as a general purpose package of medium speed and medium accuracy. In order to facilitate using it for analysis of many similar frames, automatization is stressed so that little or no interactive control is required. Special attention has been paid to accurate sky background determination. Recently, INVENTORY commands have been ported into Portable MIDAS. INVENTORY has been used for photometry of galaxies for stellar photometry and for search of quasars.
