Data relating to this event as observed at the Australian neutron monitor network are presented. The decrease was the largest event of this type observed so far during the recovery phase of the 11-year modulation associated with solar cycle 21. The rigidity dependence of the long-term variation and of this Forbush decrease, which is superimposed upon it, appear to follow similar exponential forms to those reported for the previous solar cycle.
