A possible detection of radio recombination line emission from the shocked gas in Orion-KL is reported. The detection was made during observations with the NRO 45-m telescope at a channel spacing of 125, and a frequency resolution of 260 kHz, respectively. The velocity resolution was 1.7 km/s at the H51-alpha frequency of 48.153664 GHz. An excess of emission was observed in the foreground of the H51-alpha emission line from the H II region of M42. The emission covered a velocity extent of -30 to 30 km/s, and did not have the velocity structure of a bipolar jet. Assuming a LTE condition for the ionization and excitation of hydrogen atoms, a shocked gas temperature of about 3300 K is derived with an upper limit of 5900 k. The column density of the atomic hydrogen in the n = 51 state is (2.4 + or - 0.8) x 10 to the 6th per sq cm.
