This paper presents the results of the first observations of binary stars by speckle interferometry at the Pic du Midi 2 m telescope. Out of 53 observed systems, 31 couples have been measured. The star with composite spectrum HD 52822/3 has been resolved for the first time. In spite of bad seeing conditions, the diffraction limited angular resolution of the telescope, i.e. 0.06 arc second at 5500 A, has been achieved.
