A quantitative electronic correlation scale for strongly correlated electron systems is presented. This is applied to the different phases of elemental Pu. Within the GW approximation the f-electron band-width reduction due to correlation effects is shown to have a universal scaling when plotted versus the initial LDA band width in that it is approximately independent of crystal structure and atomic volume.
