Through direct decoration transformation approach we obtain a general solution for the pentagonal Ising model. We shown that the pentagonal Ising model is equivalent to isotropic free-fermion eight vertex model. First, we study the ground state phase diagram, where we have found one ferromagnetic (FM) state, one ferrimagnetic (FIM) state and a frustrated (FRU) state. Through the exact solution of the pentagonal Ising model, we discuss the finite-temperature phase diagrams, where we find phase transition between FIM state and disordered state as well as between disordered state and FM state. We also discuss some interesting properties, such as magnetization, entropy and specific heat, at finite temperature and its rigorous low temperature asymptotic limit. Owing to the frustration influence, we have a surprisingly low values of specific heat until achieve the critical temperature.
