The plateau brightness of the sodium twilight airglow has been measured
near Christchurch, New Zealand, by photographic spectroscopy between
July 1960 and September 1961. A seasonal variation with a maximum in
mid-winter and a minimum in mid-summer was observed. This is similar to
the seasonal variation in the northern hemisphere.
