A sheath of charged particles above the sunlit lunar surface is investigated. The moon is assumed to be in the solar wind. It is shown that near the subsolar point the electrostatic potential as a function of height above the lunar surface is nonmonotonic. As the terminator is approached, the potential becomes monotonic and negative. Dependences of the surface potential and the electric field at the lunar surface on the polar angle are obtained. Variations of the potential and the particle concentrations with the height are given. The double sheath above hydrogenated areas of the lunar surface is also considered.
