Earth Magnetosphere: Solar Activity

Scientific paper

Indices characterizing the level of solar activity in the 11-year cycles on the whole are defined on the basis of the Wolf numbers and the total area of the sunspots, and their interrelation with indices of geomagnetic activity is analyzed. It is shown that the response of geomagnetic activity to a change in solar activity is of a nonlinear nature and that some saturation of the Earth's magnetosphere occurs at a high level of solar activity.
