Kiruna Space and Environment Campus, KRM, is an organisation for university education and research in space and environmental studies located in Kiruna, Sweden. It is a result of cooperation between the Swedish Institute of Space Physics and the two most northern universities in Sweden, Luleå University of Technology and Umeå University. Kiruna has a long tradition in space research and even longer tradition in a number of environmental research topics. Graduate education in space physics has existed in Kiruna since the 1960's. The past decade has seen a great expansion in undergraduate engineering programmes in Kiruna. At present there are about 100 full-time students, but one of the goals set by the Government of Sweden is to expand and broaden the existing educational programmes in order to have 450 full-time undergraduate students in Kiruna within a few years.
