Blazars are active galaxies whose narrow radiation beams, generated by relativistic jets, are pointed directly towards us. The low-energy emission (radio, infrared, optical) is synchrotron emission from relativistic electrons. High-energy emission (x-rays, gamma-rays) is produced from inverse Compton scattering of low energy photons off the relativistic electrons. The amplitude of brightness variability and the time-delays between variations at different frequencies can be used as diagnostics of physical conditions within the jets. Coordinated multiwavelength observations using spacecraft and ground-based observatories form "snapshots" of jets in various stages of activity. I will review recent multiwavelength campaigns on blazars such as 3C279, 3C273, and Mkn 421.
