A time dependent collisional-radiative model of ionisation and excitation has been developed for predicting the K-shell line emission from laser produced plasmas. Temperature and density data from a hydrodynamic simulation is post-processed in order to calculate the emitted intensity as a function of time for the given range of plasma conditions. The model has sufficient data to deal with all target elements from carbon to argon and can allow for a background element at some average ionisation, which will contribute towards the free electron density. There is also a facility for including line trapping effects for resonance lines of Li-like, He-like and H-like ion stages by means of escape factors. In addition, the extra ionisation due to a small fast electron population has been incorporated with a two-temperature approximation.
