Although many elliptical galaxies have been observed in the X-ray, virtually all of them lie in groups or clusters, where environmental interactions can significantly affect their properties and evolution. Truly isolated ellipticals are extremely rare. We have successfully observed one such galaxy with Chandra and propose to observe two more. These observations will form the basis of a much needed control sample, providing information on the intrinsic X-ray properties of elliptical galaxies which have not been altered by their environment.
