GW Lib is the first known and best studied of the 5 currently known pulsating white dwarfs in accreting close binaries. We propose to use XMM-Newton to provide the first study of X-ray emission in such unusual circumstances. Since the boundary layer in disk-accreting cataclysmic variables is the source of the hard thermal bremsstrahlung emission in typical dwarf novae, and this boundary layer is observed to be close to the white dwarf surface in the prototype dwarf nova U Gem, it will be informative to see if the non-radial pulsations modulate the X-rays in a system containing a pulsating white dwarf.
