We calculate the distribution of eigenfunction amplitudes and the variance of
the ``inverse participation ratio'' (IPR) in disordered metallic samples. A
relation is established between the distribution function of IPR and that of
``level velocities'' -- parametric derivatives of energy levels with respect to
a random perturbation.
