Cluster formation in the Konishi-Kaneko system is similar to the Jeans instability in self-gravitating systems. Cluster formation was examined by modifying the map system into one with a continuous time described by Hamilton's canonical equations. The dispersion relation was derived with the use of the collisionless Boltzmann equation. The growth rates obtained agree excellently with those obtained by N-body simulations.
