An approach to 'seeing' through a turbulent atmosphere is suggested which is based on the recording and processing of speckle images of an extended astronomical object. A modification of the Labeyrie speckle interferometry method is proposed which makes it possible to restore the image of the extended object, undistorted by the atmosphere, from its N-speckle images.
