The IUE UV observations of V348 Sgr are reported together with contemporaneous ground based spectroscopic and photometric observations. The data favor a model that includes a B0-B1 central star with high C, He, N, O abundance in the normal stage at maximum light. The possibility of V348 Sgr belonging to the evolutionary sequence of R CrB stars is also considered. Absolute visual magnitude and temperature estimates support this hypothesis.
