The Roche coordinate system introduced by Kopal (1969) is used to study the vibrations of rotationally distorted stellar models. Explicit forms of the equations of small oscillations of a rotationally distorted stellar model are obtained. Numerical techniques are used to calculate the periods of small oscillations of some rotating stellar models whose structure is based on the Roche model. The results indicate that rotation has a stabilizing effect, and that the vibrational stability of a model increases with increasing angular velocity of rotation. Eigenvalue behavior suggests that stellar models with greater mass concentration and larger extended envelopes are likely to be pulsationally more stable in the presence of rotation as compared with stars having smaller envelope dimensions.
