The optical train of the TRIO spaceborne stellar interferometer is discussed. Thermal variation and their effect on the Cassegrain telescopes are calculated. Designs for the beam recombiner in the central station are considered. The main difficulty is to utilize efficiently the wide spectral range available, with a 2-D formatting of the fringe information versus wavelength, using as few pixels as possible. Stray light in the coude beams, generated by structure lighting rather than by meteoritic dust, may affect the limiting magnitude if it is not efficiently baffled.
