A solar sailing device was designed to cope with the large displacement and high accuracy positioning of each of the three satellites of the TRIO interferometer, which require a long-service-life, clean, modulated propulsion system. The six Euler movements must be uncoupled. An articulated link between the solar sail and the satellite is necessary, and electrostatic devices are proposed. Problems related to mechanics, thermal behavior, celestial mechanics, attitude correction strategy, and positioning error detection, are discussed.
