Preliminary calculations have been carried out to investigate three-dimensional effects in imploding a unform fill plasma gas puff driven by the SATURN pulsed power generator. The numerical simulations were done using the single-fluid magnetohydrodynamic code MACH3. Initial conditons were based on experiments which showed a relatively uniform pinch, but with pulse times longer than predicted by two-dimensional calculations. The simulations were initialized with both periodic and random density perturbations. Results show the interaction of r-z plane and r-θ plane modes on the sheath dynamics during the implosion. Comparisons made with two-dimensional simulations using MACH2 show, that for equal levels of perturbations in the r-z and r-θ planes, the premise of r-z plane growth dominance is valid, but that large amplitude perturbations in the r-θ plane can affect the implosion dynamics and stagnation. *Permanent address: University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM **Permanent address: University of Washington, Seattle, WA
