Flight models and shape calculation models are frequently used in the CNES balloon division in order to prepare a flight, to improve a balloon or to analyse a flight. These models are based on physical equations (from the thermodynamics and the mechanics) and include some simplified hypothesis. Although these models are enough accurate in most of cases, more precise representation of the thermal and aerodynamic balloon behaviour are under study.
