The expected performances of the gravitational wave observatory composed by the five resonant detectors currently in operation are discussed. The potential near future improvements are also examined assuming that the noise properties of the upgraded resonant detectors will be in agreement with predictions. With the initial operation of long baselines interferometers a substantial improvement in the burst search is expected.
