The role of an external force on the cyclic activity of the sun is investigated using an auto-generating model similar to the Van der Pol equation. Calculations of an external force as a derivative of the sun's angular momentum show that the effect of the external force is not strong. Results of spectral analysis of the model equations show that the basic cyclicity periods are the first and the third harmonics.
