The forward calorimeter extends the pseudorapidity coverage of the CMS calorimeter system from η=3 to η=5.2. It is composed of quartz fibres embedded into a steel absorber and measures Cherenkov light radiated by shower particles. Six production modules of the forward calorimeter have been tested and calibrated using particle beams at CERN. An outline of the calibration procedure and results on the energy resolution, response uniformity and linearity for electrons and pions are presented in this paper.
