Radiative Transfer: Plasma
Scientific paper
A technique using both the screened-hydrogenic average-atom model and methods of classical statistical mechanics is recalled. It allows a fast evaluation of spectral opacities of local thermodynamic equilibrium plasmas. The atomic-physics description, electronic correlations and the splitting in integer charge stages are studied by comparing to more detailed calculations.
