The time structure of a signal for an observation point near the boundary of a zone of silence is analyzed on the basis of an asymptotic integral representation for the field of a signal reflected from an inhomogeneous plasma layer (e.g., in the ionosphere). Conditions are established under which the solution of the initial three-dimensional problem can be reduced to the solution of a two-dimensional harmonic problem and a one-dimensional nonstationary problem. Calculation results are interpreted in terms of spatial-temporal geometrical optics.
