We present a search for fractionally charged particles in the penetrating cosmic radiation using the MACRO detector. The search was performed using tracking information from the streamer tubes and energy loss measurements from the scintillator subsystem. The MACRO energy threshold allowed a search sensitive to charges as low as e/5. The 90 % C. L. flux upper limit is 1.5 × 10-15 cm-2 sec-1 sr-1 .
