In this paper we present preliminary results of investigation carried out by the Padova exoplanet group aimed to the identification of the optimal planet finding field for the ESA Eddington mission. We have developed several procedures to analyze the GSC2 catalog in order to select a list of potentially appropriate fields. We have used synthetic CMDs to estimate the fraction of G, K, and M dwarfs which could be potential good targets for the search of habitable planets. Finally, we created artificial images simulating a typical Eddington frame for the possible Eddington Planet Finding Fields, and evaluated the photometric accuracy we expect to obtain.
