The BUFS-2 double-monochromator spectrometer has been designed to
determine the total content of ozone and its vertical distribution from
satellite measurements of directed and earth-scattered solar UV
radiation. This spectrometer was installed on the Meteor-3 satellite,
which was put into a near-polar orbit in July 1988.
