Response functions of muons for various observational conditions were calculated by numerical integration of the equations of hadron cascades in the atmosphere; Feynman scaling on hadron interactions over the whole energy range was assumed. Calculated results, obtained for different combinations of zenith angle, atmospheric depth and muon threshold energy appear to be consistent with different kinds of cosmic ray measurements. The application of these response functions to the study of cosmic ray modulation is examined.
