Data of the time period from 1884 to 1970 have been considered in the investigation. A survey is presented of the solar activity and its relation to terrestrial events. Time variations of the geomagnetic field and the sunspot number are discussed, taking into account the 11-yr cycle and the rotation of the sun. Approaches for the study of the 27-day recurrence tendency are described and an investigation is conducted of changes in the recurrence period in the case of geomagnetic disturbances. The recurrence interval for the sunspot numbers is determined with the aid of an autocorrelation analysis.
