A new scenario for superconductivity in the bismuthates based on the concept of a spatially separated Fermi-Bose mixture is proposed. In the framework of this scenario we qualitatively explain the insulator-metal transition and the nature of the superconductivity which occur in Ba_{1-x}K_xBiO_3 under doping by K. We also analyze briefly an applicability of this scenario for the high-Tc superconductors. In conclusion some additional experiments required to elucidate more precisely the nature of the superconductivity in the bismuthates are discussed.
