Results of observations of the solar corona on February 16, 1980 are presented. Distributions of brightness and polarization were determined. The polarization measurements allow the study of the distribution of coronal matter along the line of sight and reveal structuring perpendicular to the plane of the sky. Structural shapes were distinctly seen in the polarization distribution. Polarization in coronal structures under Thomson scattering is discussed. Thomson scattering may be used as a basic mechanism to explain the origin of the white-light corona.
