GEOTAIL observations of an interplanetary shock caused by the Bastille
day solar event in 2000 are discussed in several aspects: (1)
possibility of diffusive shock acceleration of electrons, (2) shock
geometry determination, and (3) self-excitation of shock-upstream waves
by protons.
