Until now, it has been assumed that the evolution of a cosmic string network is independent of whether or not the strings are superconducting. We show here how the evolution of a superconducting cosmic string (SCS) network may in fact be dramatically effected by the electromagnetic interactions of the SCS's. Specifically, we find that a scaling solution may be possible for smaller loop self-intersection probabilities than allowed for normal strings, resulting in a modification of the loop number density. In fact, we find that the number density of loops can be enhanced by an order of magnitude. The consequences of this for primordial nucleosynthesis are discussed.
