Although Charles Messier and his colleagues recorded most of the bright
northern deep sky objects when searching for comets, a few escaped their
gaze and one of their brightest misses was galaxy NGC 2903 in Leo,
discovered in November 1784 by William Herschel. Observing information
and images of the galaxy are presented.
