A highly specific signature of micrometeoric neon (i.e., a ^20Ne/^22Ne
ratio of about 11.8 11.9) was found in the upper mantle. Only a small
fraction (0.3%) of the available amount of micrometeoritic neon locked
in unmelted micrometeorites has to be subducted into the mantle.
