This review is concerned with the application of geodetic techniques, with emphasis on recent space methods, to some geophysical problems related to the structure of the earth's interior; application of these methods to the moon and other planets are also discussed. Anticipated or possible future developments in satellite tracking, in geodetic theories and in satellite instrumentation are discussed within framework of the geophysical rationale.
