We examine two magnetic conjunctions between Cluster-2 and FAST during which Cluster-2 at high altitudes and FAST at lower altitudes observed magnetosheath plasma. The first occurred 7~December 2000 at 11:45~UT, when Cluster-2 was near the duskside magnetopause and FAST was at about 17~magnetic local time (MLT). The second occurred 21~January 2001 at 15:44~UT in the cusp, with Cluster-2 on the dayside and FAST at about 13~MLT. The latter conjunction occurred within the field of view of the Sondrestrom incoherent scatter radar. In both events the Cluster Ion Spectrometry (CIS) experiment simultaneously detected magnetosheath ions with energies of a few hundred eV and ions of ionospheric origin with energies near 10~keV streaming tailward along the magnetopause, while these two populations were more clearly separated at FAST altitudes. We relate the multi-spacecraft observations to the prevailing interplanetary conditions.
